Entrepreneur Avaneesh Yadav: Glocal Teen Hero 2015 Finalist

Avaneesh is a talented young mind who have entrepreneurial and technical skills form leading groups to achieving success in whatever he gets involved in. 17 years old Avaneesh has international achievements and participation in several events.

He is currently studying A Level at St. Xavier’s College, Maitighar. He loves to read and write for magazine.He was first runner up in the National Finance Olympiad held in New Delhi by the National Commodities and Derivatives Exchange in partnership with The Economic Times.

He had received the Gold Medal for Engineering Excellence at the Johnson Space Centre, NASA in Houston, USA. He came to know about the Glocal Teen Hero Award on Facebook which immediately caught his attention so when he visited the website and figured out the requirements of this contest and the esteemed panel of judges, he was even more excited.

He have been doing Model United Nations Conferences since grade eight. “Model United Nations (MUN) is an academic simulation of a real United Nations Conference with several committees running parallel”. He recently moderated the Crisis Committee in the Himalayan International Model United Nations, an MUN which took place in Dhulikhel where participation of around 100 delegates and executive board members from Bangladesh and India of age group 16-25 were presented.  Apart from that, he have been an active writer and debater. He was the Co-Editor of his high-school magazine, The Oliphant, back at Welham. “The Oliphant is a delightful production which has been published every month for the past 70 years, and I am proud to have been associated to its legacy.” He added.

He is very much passionate about his interests in business and technology, eco-founding an online shopping portal, “ShopLife”, which can be reached at www.StoreShopLife.com initiated by the team of persons. He proudly explained,” In our website, people can find the coolest tech products which are available nowhere in the Nepalese market; from Kindles to Drones to 3D printers, we only provide premium products. Unlike most online shops in Nepal, there is no scope for random sellers or second hand and counterfeit items. At the moment, we accept only Cash-on-Delivery, but we are in the process of integrating the eSewa API in our website to facilitate online transactions. We have partnered with a hostel based in Baluwatar, Dorm Nepal, to contribute a portion of our profit for post-earthquake reconstruction.“It was his first entrepreneurship experiment so he has decided to continue despite of flaws because he believe that the entrepreneurs should keep a flexible attitude. Thus , the youth should not be afraid of failure, as the master has failed more times than the beginner has even tried.

As per him , his challenges to participate in Glocal Teen Hero 2015 was to get the recommendation letter immediately. But later CEO of F1 provided him.  interview was so tougher due to cross questions asked by the distinguished jury members also competitive participates were the main challenges he faced.

Currently, he is also the Vice-President of the St. Xavier’s A Level Society, as well as the In-Charge of the MUN Club. He need to look into the affairs of seven different clubs, including Sports, Music and Debating. Furthermore, they will be organizing the very first intra-college Model United Nations at St. Xaviers by the end of this year. He expressed his deepest regards to the entire Glocal Team for providing teenagers a first-of-its kind platform to exhibit their extra-curricular involvements. “It actually proves that the country cannot be run merely by beauty pageants, but by supporting work in different fields which contribute to the development of the society. It will be a great pleasure to watch this event grow to strength every year. It will motivate the youth of our country to continue their works with even greater zeal,” he added.

His message towards the youth is a quote of one of his idols, Steve Jobs, “Life can be much broader once you discover one simple fact: Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you and you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use. Once you learn that, you’ll never be the same again.
