Kathmandu,10 Feb 2015: The Poor Household Identification Card Management and Distribution Coordination Board has identified 1.2 million poor household in 25 districts of the country.

In an interaction programme organized here today by the Board, its Vice-Chairperson Chintan Poudel shared that the record keeping was carried out as per the objective to keep tab on poor families in 25 districts of the country in the current fiscal year.

Vice-Chairperson Poudel added the preparations are underway to identify real poor families based on the records.

The Board is also gearing up to suggest measures to the government to uplift them. “We have already discussed about it with concerned Ministries. We look forward to discussing with more ministries,” he Vice-Chairperson added.

According to the latest census, one-fourth of the population of Nepal is living below the poverty line.

The record keeping of the poor households has been carried out in the districts including Achham, Bajura, Kailali, Humla, Jumla, Dolpa and Balikot in the first phase.

 

Rrecord keeping of such families in other districts of Nepal is in offing, according to Vice-Chairperson, Poudel.
