100th Week Of Bagamati Clean Up Campaign

April 11, 2015: The Bagmati clean up campaign begins making its 100th week at 7:00 am this morning.

Prime Minister Sushil Koirala, members of his cabinet, army personnel, media persons, and thousand others are participating in the campaign by forming a human chain of 28 kilometers along the riverbanks that will surround the Bagmati river from Sundarijal to Chovar.

The participants are expected to be about 50,000 to join the initiative from different walks of life calling to free the holy Bagmati river of pollution.

In order to join the cleanliness campaign the major political parties have also directed their party cadres and activists.13 government secretaries as the coordinators in 13 different locations while 12 key personalities would coordinate in other points of the Bagmati river for the cleanliness has been allocated by the government.

Similarly, party leaders are leading their party team.Nepali Congress Vice-president Ram Chandra Poudel is leading his party’s team at Sanepa while CPN (UML), Chairman KP Sharma Oli-led team would join the campaign at Thapathali. UML office-bearers and other leaders would also accompany Chairman Oli.

Furthermore, former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal would reach the Bagmati river at Sankhamul. And former Prime Minister and UCPN (Maoist) leader Dr Baburam Bhattarai would join the human chain near Bagmati bridge in Thapathali. Likewise, Constituent Assembly (CA) Chairman Subas Chandra Nembang and the chief whips of major political parties would be mobilized along the Thapathali-Kupandol section of the river in the great campaign.
