OVER 1060 QUINTALS OF GARBAGE COLLECTED

Kathamandu, September 20: The Clean-Up Nepal, a nationwide campaign , has collected 1060.48 quintals of garbage from over 70 places across the country today on the occasion of the World Clean-Up Day.

The Canpaign had launched the celan-up program at 70 different cities of the country including the Kathmandu valley simuntaneously.

Atotal of 21,000 volunteers were mobilized for operating the programs organized under the slogan “Let’s participate in the greenery movement , stop community pollution.”

The programs were organized in Kathmandu valley , Pokhara, Butwal, Itahari, Biratnagar, Chitwan, Banepa, Dhulikhel, Nagarakot, Panauti, Palpa, among others, according to the organization.

The campaign had collected 845 quintals od garnage last year.

A clean-up program organized at Kalmochan, Executive Chief of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Dhan Bahadur Shrestha , stressed that locals should be active to keep their city clean and free from pollution.

Similarly, Australian Ambassador to Nepal, Glenn White , sought all-side support and cooperation for the well management of solid waste.

 

He said he felt very prestigious to be part of the clea-up campaign which began from the Sydney, Australia, around 25 years ago.
