14,054,482 individuals to vote in local election

Kathmandu, April 3, 2017: The Election Commission has finalized the name list of voters regarding the local level election scheduled to be held on May 14 this year.

According to Spokesperson of the Commission Surya Prasad Sharma, 14,054,482 individuals are eligible to use their franchise in the local election going to be held first time after 19 years.

The EC accepted the names of those Nepali citizens above 18 years of age who got their names registered at the District Election Offices by February 20, 2017.

Of them, the number of female voters is 6,984,625, the number of male is 7,069,714 while the number of transgender is 143.

Morang tops other districts in terms of voters’ population which is counted at 630,870 while Manang has the least number of voters which is 5095.

The EC is to update the certified names lists of voters in its official website within the next few days.
