Palpa, 24 Oct 2014: Although the Aama Suraskshya Karyakram has been implemented, some of the women in Palpa district are still found giving birth to child unsafely at home.
Out of total pregnant women in the district, around 16 per cent women give birth to child unsafely at home.
According to the statistics provided by the District Public Health Office, Palpa, some 939 women give birth to child at home annually.
A total of 4,926 women reached hospital for the safe maternity service in the fiscal year 2070/71 BS, according to the Office.
Although the Aama Surakshya Karyakram has been implemented in the district with an objective of ensuring safe birth to child, people still lack awareness.
Officer at the District Public Health Office, Kalpana Poudel, said out of total pregnant women in the district, 84 per cent women received maternity service from different health institutions in the last fiscal year.
The Aama Surakshya Karyakram has been run at 22 health institutions in the district, it is learnt.
