20 Districts’ Post Office Buildings Destroyed By Earthquake

May 19, 2015: The April 25 earthquake and aftershocks have collapsed the buildings of the post office in 20 districts, including Gorkha, Nuwakot, Dhading and Rasuwa.

The Department of Postal Service said that atleast four districts including Kathmandu have witnessed partial damages on the post office building.

Claiming an employee’s life the Postal Training Centre at Sindhupalchowk has also been damaged. Director General at the Department, Drona Pokharel said that the detailed information on the loss of physical properties of other employees is yet to be garnered. He added that despite the despair caused by the disaster, the employees in the postal service are all working continuously.

As per Director General Pokhrel, worth Rs.500 million has been estimated the loss by the Department in the post offices across the country.
