Kathmandu, February 18, 2018: Nepal English Language Teachers’ Association (NELTA) has successfully concluded ’23rd International Conference’ from February 15 to February 17, 2018, at Galaxy Public School, Gyaneshwor, Kathmandu.
The theme of this event was ‘Content, Language, and Technology: Perspectives and Prospects in ELT’. Various representatives from different organizations working for the promotion of English language put forward the need of utilizing technology for easing the teaching-learning process.
As many as 250 experts from Nepal, India, Pakistan, Qatar, Bangladesh, the UK, the US, Israel, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Switzerland, Australia, South Korea, and South Africa made presentations on English language teaching during the conference that lasted for three days. The participants present at the event stressed on teaching methodology could now incorporate the blogs, internet, and Wikipedia.
The keynote speakers of this event were Dr.Richard Smith from UK (British Council), Dr. Maggie Sokolik from the Department of States, U.S. Embassy and Dr. S Mohanraj and Professor Paul Gunashekar from India.
Sarita Dewan, training coordinator of NELTA, said that professional development could be ensured under the programs relating to teachers. Furthermore, she indicated that last year, more than 1,000 were trained for the development of English language teaching.
Hari Atreya, English teacher at Mahendra Ratna Campus, Tahachal, pointed out the need for quality training on the English language. NELTA has expanded its network to 51 districts across the country.
