Kathmandu, Dec 10, 2014: The Nepal Police seized 285 kg gold in the last three years. The estimated market price of the seized gold is Rs 1.2 billion, Inspector General of Nepal Police Upendra Kanta Aryal informed at a meeting of the Public Accounts Committee of the Legislature-Parliament today.
The PAC on Wednesday inquired with home secretary Surya Prasad Silwal and IG Aryal about the seized gold and incentive to the informants. The informants are given 25 per cent in commission after the gold seizure.
Nearly, Rs 300 million has been doled out in the name of informants during the period after the gold seizure.
On the occasion, IG Aryal told the lawmakers that the informants’ name cannot be shared to anyone else except to the court.
