Kathmandu, 3rd January,2015 : Â The 30 parties’ front led by the UCPN (Maoist) Saturday staged a peaceful demonstration and organised a corner assembly in the capital, demanding a consensus-based constitution. The front comprises 19 political parties inside the Constituent Assembly (CA) and 11 parties outside it.
The demonstration was said to be for pressing the ruling parties Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) for ensuring the promulgation of a consensus

constitution through the CA itself.
Addressing the corner meet after the demonstrations at local Shantibatika, Ratnapark, Sanghiya Samajbadi Party Chairman Ashok Rai and UCPN (Maoist) leader Hisila Yami accused the ruling parties of attempting to bring a majority-based constitution by ignoring people’s aspirations and intending to revive the 1990’s constitution.
Drafting of a constitution by meeting the spirit of the 12-point agreement, the Interim Constitution of Nepal, Comprehensive Peace Agreement and other various agreements would do well for the country and people, they argued.
Peaceful demonstrations were carried out in Bhaktapur and Lalitpur, too, stressing the need of consensus-based constitution, according to the leaders of the alliance.
