Kathmandu,13 Jan 2015: There was a partial impact of the banda (general shutdown) organized on Tuesday held at the call of 30-party front headed by the UCPN (Maoist) in various parts of the country including the Kathmandu Valley, the Home Ministry stated.
Some incidents of vandalism were reported in Siraha, Sunsari, Jhapa, Banke, Morang, Makwanpur and Mahottari districts in course of the banda. Normal life in these districts was affected by the banda in general. The police took seven banda enforcers under control from the Tarai districts.

Similarly, the normal life in the central region was partially affected by the banda. Market areas were partially open and a few number of vehicles plied on the road. Some vehicles bound for a long route were escorted to the destination, according to the Ministry.
Banda supporters vandalized some vehicles in the Kathmandu Valley. A total of 69 people including three women were arrested by the police in course of the vandalism, the Ministry said in a press statement in the afternoon.
The Ministry has appealed to transport entrepreneurs, industrialists and business people to continue their business without any fear as the government has implemented a planned security scheme to avert any possible untoward incidents during the banda.
