MORE THAN 3,000 CHILD DELIVERY CASES IN HEALTH FACILITIES

Dipayal (Doti), Aug. 4: As many as 3,500 mothers have received maternal services in health facilities in the district during last fiscal year.

 

According to the information provided by District Health Office Doti, more than 3,400 mothers accessed health services from different health facilities in the fiscal year 2070-71 BS.

 

The District Health Office has set a target to have 5,416 mothers delivered their children in birthing centres in the last fiscal year, said Programme Coordinator of Safer Motherhood Programme Gauri Shahi. Of the target, 61 per cent has been achieved.

 

As part of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), the Nepal government has set its goal to undertake 60 per cent of total child delivery in health facilities by 2015. The Doti district has already reached the national target in the fiscal 2069-70 BS, said senior public health administrator at the District Health Office, Mahendra Dhwoj Adhikari.

 

The birthing centres have been set up in 47 health facilities in Doti district. It will be expanded in rest of the facilities in the current fiscal year, said the District Health Office sources.
