Ilam, 5 March, 2015: As many as 307 students have been deprived of appearing in the School Leaving Certificate (SLC) from Ilam this year.
Inadequate school attendance and non-payment of revenue, among others, are the cause behind this.
According to the education office, the deprivation was because of carelessness on part of guardians and students themselves.
The education regulation states that students failing to make 75 per cent attendance are not allowed to sit for SLC examination. The provision has deprived majority of students of attending the examination, said Ambika Prasad Khanal of examination division at the District Education Office.
Total 6,982 students in Ilam are appearing in this year’s SLC examination. Among them, 3,189 are towards exempted and 3,793 towards regular, said the District Education Office sources.
Some exam centres have been arranged for SLC this year, the education office source added.
