Birendranagar, Oct 11: The number of mental health patients has reached more than 500 in Surkhet district.
Health education official in the Surkhet Basantaman Shrestha said of the total mental health patients, 60 are of serious cases.
The district has set up three units for treatment of mental health related problems in Salkot, Dasharathpur and Mehalkuna primary health centres. However, the patients are not provided with the needed medicine due to lack of availability.
Shrestha said expansion of mental health service is realized in all parts of the district. Officials said that number of mental health patients is on the rise in absence of effective treatment measures in the region.
