Ministry of Science and Technology is set to organize STEAM Challenge for School Students

Kathmandu, February 2, 2018: Ministry of Science and Technology in collaboration with Karkhana, Robotics Association of Nepal (RAN) and Nepal Innovation Lab (NIL) is organizing Bhawishya, National STEAM Challenge for the young students aged 8-14.

The competition is a challenge involving Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Design and Mathematics (STEAM) subjects where students work in a team of 3 to build a project/working prototype. The project should address one or more goals mentioned in the SDGs of United Nations. The theme of the project should address one or more goals mentioned in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of United Nations.

According to the organizer, the main objective of the competition is to provide the platform for lower secondary and secondary level students to help the students explore the various dynamics of STEAM subjects and learn to work in collaboration. Similarly, it will also help the students understand the concept of SDGs and involve themselves in design thinking i.e finding a creative and logical way to solve the problem. As many as 200 students from both the government and private schools are expected to take part in the competition.

The participants have to bring the equipment and tools required for the design/project on their own. They will be provided certain time period to complete their project and the experts will be present to supervise the use of different tools.
