Kathmandu, February 13, 2018: At an annual award event organized by Nepal National and International Players Association (NNIPA) on February 12, 2018, 35 best players of the country were bestowed upon with accolades, trophies and cash prize worth Nrs 10,000 for showcasing their efforts and sportsmanship for taking the country’s sports to a new height.
Paras Khadka, the national cricket team captain, was awarded with ‘Best Cricketer of 2017’ and Kiran Chemjong, the goalkeeper of the national football team has been presented with ‘Best Player Award’ for his contribution in Nepalese football team.
Olympian and weightlifting coach, Late Sunil Lal Joshi, was bestowed upon with the Gajaraj Joshi Ideal Athlete Award. Similarly, journalist Shyam Chitrakar was awarded the NNIPA Journalism Award
Tendi Sherpa, the general secretary of Nepal Olympic Committee (NOC) and the vice-president of National Sports Council (NSC) mentioned that “Nepal has a tradition of respecting all sports and players. We are preparing for the 13th South Asian Games (SAG) which is set to be held in Kathmandu.”
Best players from volleyball, karate, table tennis, shooting, boxing, weightlifting, tennis, kabbadi, soft tennis, handball, cycling, hockey, chess, squash, badminton, basketball, karate, ITF, sepak takraw, kho kho, body building, snooker, taekwondo, wushu, judo, archery, swimming, athletics, fencing, golf, triathlon, wrestling were the other awardees.
