Kathmandu, February 20, 2018: Literary magazine, La.Lit, in association with the Open Institute, has announced a writing fellowship, named La.Lit Fellowships in Nonfiction: New Ethnographic Writing 2018′. The deadline to submit the application is March 10, 2018.

According to the magazine, the program will provide up to six fellowships over a period of six months to help to emerge and establish Nepali writers and Nepali residents to immerse themselves in a field context to capture facets of the societies, cultures, and environment. The NEW 2018 Fellowships aim to produce high-quality, research-driven writing. It aims to go beyond the conventional descriptions of specific places or communities in Nepal to delve into the complexities and textures of the modern Nepali experience

Selected fellows will receive financial support of up to Rs. 50,000 to conduct their fieldwork and research along with technical and editorial support, including workshops. The writing produced through the Fellowships will be published by La.Lit. The fellowship will cover reading seminars, research workshop, writing workshop, individualized support, financial support, and publication.

An orientation session will be organized at Quixote’s Cove, Jawalakhel at 2 pm on February 24, 2018, for those who would like to learn more about the Fellowship. Founded in 2012, La.Lit is a literary magazine that aims to bring contemporary achievements in world literature to Nepal and take Nepali and South Asian literature to the world.
