ADB PROMISES TO SUPPORT LAMPATA LANDSLIDE IN MYAGDI

Myagdi, Aug 31: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is to provide financial support for the Lampata Landslide Control Project.

A mission team led by ADB Representative Laxmi Adhikari, who arrived in Myagdi to inspect the landslide in Babiyachaur VDC-5, has agreed to provide support through the Decentralized Rural Infrastructure and Livelihood Project (DRILIP) under the ADB.

Local Development Officer (LDO) Bishnu Prasad Sharma said the ADB has agreed to provide all expenses necessary for controlling the landslide at Lampata along the Beni-Darbang road section and help continue traffic on the road.

The ADB will apply the technology that was used in controlling the landslide at Krishnabhir along the Prithvi Highway to control the Lampata landslide. LDO Sharma said during the survey carried recently, a total cost of Rs 27.5 million has been estimated for controlling the landslide.

A detail project report will be prepared soon and the contract process will be completed between the Dashain and Tihar festivals, said LDO Sharma.
