June 22, 2015: Afghanistan parliament in the capital, Kabul, have been attacked by The Taliban where heavy fighting is still going on.
As per the source, before racing into parliament the attackers detonated a huge car bomb outside the building. The incident happened as new Defence Minister Massoom Stanekzai was being introduced to MPs, who need to endorse him. while trying to fight off the attackers police are evacuating the premises.The Parliament was full of smoke and people running for cover showed in the pictures on social media.
The country has been without a full-time defence minister for several months, and the attack is sending a clear message to the government by putting out Monday’s parliamentary proceedings, our correspondent says.The Taliban say to coincide with a vote to endorse a new defence minister they are carrying out the attack. One female MP have been reported wonded. Is is said that police have a complex operation on their hand to clear the building and fight off the attackers.
