Bardibas, Aug. 19: The Road Division Office, Mujheliya and the local administration plan to open an alternate diversion near Ratukhola along the East-West highway after the bridge over the river caved in due to floods triggered by incessant rainfall.
Incessant rainfall that occurred last Wednesday damaged the foundation of the bridge over the river, said Devendra Sah, chief at the division office.
Due to the vulnerable condition of the bridge, passengers are compelled to travel 80 kilometers distance for only eight-kilometer-long route.
After the construction of alternate diversion from near the bridge, vehicular movement would become easier, Sah added.
