Kathmandu, April 21, 2016:Â An earthquake commemoration concert is going to be organized on BhrikutiMandap Ground in Kathmandu this Saturday featuring American RAPtivist Aisha Fukushima.
Speaking at a special programme organized in Kathmandu today, Fukushima said that music needs no language and we can swing to the same beat and work on issues through the medium of music.
Being a RAPtivist by herself– a blond of rap and activism, she has sung on Flint Water Crisis and Black Lives Matter Movement.
While in Nepal, she will lead a series of workshops on ‘RAPtivism’, a global hip-hop project spanning 10 countries and four continents—highlighting the ways culture can change oppression with expression which she expects will contribute to create a link between hip-hop culture and youth activism in Nepal.
Supported by US Embassy in Kathmandu under Arts Envoy Programme, the concert will see popular Nepali bands 1974 AD, Nirnaya the NSK and Samriddhi Rai performing alongside Fukushima and her band.
Special speakers Prabal Gurung, a fashion designer and Evana Manandhar, Miss Nepal 2015 will also make their appearances at the concert.
The concert is open for all and is being held on April 23, 2:00 PM onwards.
