Kathmandu. November 18, 2018: Ankita Poudyal has been recognized as one of the Young Innovators of the Year 2018 in an international conference that recently took place in Berlin, Germany from November 8-9. Currently studying at Auckland University of Technology in New Zealand, she won the third place in the finale of the conference on future breakthroughs in science and society organized by the Falling Walls Foundation.

Her idea about compounding two technologies to create ideal filters to improve air/water quality helped her to bag the recognition. She is working on nano-fiber filters that efficiently remove particles and enable good flow with the help of surface coating technology.

In the conference, Ahmed Ghazi, a surgeon from the University of Rochester, USA secured the first position with his idea of simulating organs and surgery to reduce surgical errors. Similarly, Adam Fulop from Hungary was in the third place for his presentation about turning regular books into braille formats so that blinds can get back their reading power. The startup from Switzerland, T3 Pharmaceuticals, also won the Falling Walls Venture Science Award for its next-generation cancer therapy.
