Kathmandu,19 March 2015: The government on Thursday took a decision to station an Armed Police Force unit at Okharpauwa to facilitate clearance of the reeking garbage strewn all over the Kathmandu Valley within the next 48 hours.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers held at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar instructed the Ministry of Urban Development and Physical Planning to provide for dozers and necessary equipment to manage the waste and Home Ministry to carry out the needed to facilitate in collection and disposal.

Emerging from the meeting, Government Spokesperson and Minister for Information and Communications Dr Minendra Rijal said the Chief Secretary was delegated with the authority to coordinate the task.    The meeting also approved the first amendment of the Far West Development Area Commission and Karnali Area Development Commission and Task Execution Order, 2069.

The cabinet also decided to extend the term of Task Force 2071 formed to give suggestions on implementation of agreement and understanding reached with various political parties outside of the Constituent Assembly, concerned stakeholders and the armed forces by the sub-committee formed by the Constitutional Political Dialogue and Consensus Committee. The cabinet decided to extend the term by 45 days which expired on March 14.
