App Developer Ravi Mandal: Glocal Teen Hero 2015 Finalist

Ravi is an app developer who has not only developed daily life saver apps but has also own international award from Microsoft. He aims to digitize the world by making apps that touches everyone’s life every single day.

11707672_478973428946295_8656883822978151640_nGlocal Teen Hero 2015 finalist, Ravi Mandal is 17 years old and lives in Baneshwor.  He is currently working at Microsoft Innovation Center Nepal as Cross Platform Developer and Technical Evangelist for Cloud Computing Platform Azure. He studied at Premier College and has completed his +2 majoring in physics and Math. Ravi says he is moody and insisting teen but very much passionate about technology since his childhood.

His greatest inspiration is Allen Bailochan Tuladhar Sir, who is the Regional Director of Microsoft. He extends his great thanks to everyone at MIC Nepal for providing a platform for him and for always supporting and mentoring him. Likewise, he was encouraged by one of his brother Rachhek Shrestha to participate in Glocal Teen Hero which he think was the right decision taken by him. Likewise, Bill Gates, Satya Nadella, Steve Jobs as well as his family are the biggest inspiration for him. He adds “Glocal Pvt Ltd. is a wonderful platform, an initiation by a group of young people who are creating innovative ideas for teen platform. I am thankful to the organizer team to help make my recognition all over the country. ”

The main challenges for him were the competitive participants, jury’s back firing questions in the interview. However, he says he has taken it as an awesome experiences and learning.

Ravi used to do self study through online and sleeps rarely during his work time. The happiest moment for him was to be selected as a top 12th students among 400 students as a software developer.He started his journey when he was 12 years old. Since then he started self-exploring and studying. He is able to stand as the software developer at the very young age.

He helped UN to build 3-4 mobile apps as Disaster Response, likewise Aawaz for UNICEF which help in reporting what children did. He also made an app for UNDP for the assessment of demolished building during the earthquake and helping the locals to earn by demolishing their own house. He has also worked for Japanese Company developing apps on iPhone and also has developed many websites. Ravi was able to reach to the world semi-finals in international competition called Imagine Cup in April. He won First Prize from Nepal in a category where software tries to solve the problems existing in today’s world.

His future plan is to excel software market to international level in Tech World so that he can make Nepalese proud of him. “My dream company is Microsoft” says Ravi confidently as he has already worked at the regional office of Microsoft. Moreover, he has dream to establish himself as an Entrepreneur and he wish to get his bachelor degree from USA.

His main message:
” It is not only the study that help to move forward in this competitive world rather youth of today’s generation needs skills and good opportunities in the areas of their interest and expertise to grow up. Don’t let go your inner potentials unrecognized rather accept the challenges and explore your hidden talents to any change you want to bring within yourself and the nation”
