Kathmandu, November 14, 2018: Ujyalo Foundation is happy and proud to announce application open for its second edition of EmpowHER Junior for the year 2018. This program provides a platform for young adolescent girls between 12-16 years old to explore their leadership skills and foster their ideas as changemakers and entrepreneurs to impact change(s) in their schools, communities.
After the successful completion of EmpowHER for four consecutive years; a year of EmpowHER Junior, and grooming 74 young women in Nepal, Ujyalo Foundation is looking for its second cohort of young changemakers with the theme ‘Girls with Grit.’
EmpowHER Junior is a special program for adolescent girls to learn idea incubation and leadership. It provides a secure platform for young women to effectively and safely exercise leadership in Nepal. Sharing her experience with the team during the launch of application one of the winners of 2017, Anugya Koirala, encouraged young girls to apply for the program as the program had helped her reach out to various national and international platforms like debate competitions which were only possible because of EmpowHER’s grooming sessions.
Initiated in 2015, the goal of EmpowHER is to increase the number of young women in leadership and decision-making roles in Nepal. The fellowship challenges the conventional notions of beauty, culture, and intelligence, by emphasising on qualities and skills that make women resilient, adaptive, and confident to overcome social and personal barriers to become a positive agent of change.
