KATHMANDU, March 7 2016: — Nepalese Army observed the “Army Day” amid a special function in the capital on Monday coinciding with Hindu’s biggest festival Maha Shivaratri.
At a function organized at Nepalese Army pavilion in Tudikhel, Nepalese Army displayed spectacular march-past, military drills, armored vehicles, cultural procession, disaster rescue operation, Aikido drill, Fly past among others to mark the special occasion.
Newly elected President Bidhya Devi Bhandari, who is also the supreme commander of Nepalese Army, marked her presence in the function along with Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, chiefs of security bodies, representatives from diplomatic mission and various high level government officials.
On the occasion, Nepalese Army soldiers displayed a special rifle salute firing in succession along the ranks. They also displayed armored vehicles, weapons, engineering and communication devices, mobile field hospitals, recovery vans among others.
Nepalese Army, which played an active role in the rescue and relief operation after the devastating earthquake of April 25 last year, also performed disaster rescue operations. Enditem
