
Kathmandu, Sept 14: The Constituent Assembly (CA) meeting today passed the Article 4 related to the religious provision of the Revised Bill of the Constitution of Nepal-2072.
The Articles 1, 2 and 3 were passed on Sunday as there was no amendment proposal registered on these articles while the proposal put forth by the three major parties on Article 4 was approved by two-thirds majority of the CA and passed, thus incorporating it as the part of the constitution.
In the beginning of today’s meeting, CA Chairman Subas Nembang presented the amendment proposal registered by the CA members on Article 4 of the Revised Bill of the Constitution. Proposals seeking to amend the Article 4 tabled by Deepak Bohara, Ram Kumar Rai and Shivalal Thapa were rejected by a majority.
Similarly, the proposal on Article 4 brought by Chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal, Kamal Thapa, saying that Nepal is an inclusive, democratic Hindu kingdom, was also rejected.
Likewise, proposals seeking amendment to the Article 4 by Yashoda Kumari Lama, Bhaskar Bhadra, Kumar Khadka, Hari Charan Sah and Anuradha Thapa Magar were also rejected.
The CA meeting is still taking place.
