Astha Tamang Maskey is the singing sensation of the Nepali Music Industry; a soaring name in the Nepali music scene. Born in Nepal while is staying in Toronto, Canada, Maskey holds a degree in Music Production Program and Audio Engineering Program.

She is the daughter of accomplished Nepali singer, Susan Maskey. She is not only a singer but also a songwriter. There are ample songs of mother and daughter deut. Her mother being a lead singer in a band that was promoting democracy and raising voices against autocracy through its music. Following her path, her songs are melodic, direct and emotional with lyrics that attempt to explore the depths of the human psyche: spirit, mind and emotions.

 

From the age of 14 she has been writing songs and has an uncompromising supporters and admirers. Finally at the age of 19, in 2009, her debut album was released titled ‘Sabai Thikai Huncha’. Following to this, her radio single was released ‘Gotta be Love off’ and ‘Jhuto Satya’ which was a boom to her career.

 

In 2012, Astha launched her second Neplai album ‘Ma Ek Sapana’. Her single Khula Aakash  and Harek Saas Sita received massive attention of the audience and also was nominated for “Best Female Pop Vocal Performance” on Hits FM Music Awards 2013.

 

Her English single, Where Have You Been, a collaboration with production genius Rohit Shakya (The Author) premiered on VEVO and took home first place in the People’s Voice Award category at the International Songwriting Competition. The song received world-wide attention and airplay on Pepsi MTV Indies and also earned a feature on MTV’s Just Arrived playlist in 2015.

 

In 2018, Astha released her English single “Just Vibing” which got featured on Toronto based, Spotify and gained attention from tastemakers and various music blogs in Canada.

 

Now after a wait of 1 year, Astha Tamang Maskey’s new single, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, the title track from her album had a premiere on July 27, 2019 on her official YouTube channel. Her this single, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa features lyrics by her mother Susan Maskey and was produced by Kathmandu based music producer, Kobid Bazra (Bajra Creation Records).
