Kathmandu, 14th February 2015 : Â Ram Temple in Pashupatinath and its surrounding areas have been cleaned-up today under the Bagmati River Clean-up Campaign.
The campaign, launched from May 18, 2013, has reached to 92nd week today. Chief Secretary Leelamani Poudyal is leading the campaign.
On the occasion, civil servants, employees at Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT), Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and representatives of different organisations, working in the sector of garbage management, were present.
Chief Secretary Poudyal said that people are now aware that we should not make the river polluted. He also stressed on the need of moving ahead by formulating a plan for the same.
Member Secretary of the PADT, Dr Govinda Tandon, said that the campaign has created a public-awareness for the protection of river.
Proprietor of the Batabaran Sworgadwari Sanitation Pvt Ltd, Yam Magar, said that the government should give responsibility to the private sectors to clean the river as they are active in collecting garbage and its management under the campaign.
