Bangladesh, November 26, 2015: The first ever banking fair commenced in Bangladesh at the Bangla Academy premises in the capital city Dhaka from 24th November, 2015. The five-day Fair is being organized with the theme, â€œTo Build a Banking Nationâ€.
The central bank Governor Dr. Atiur Rahman attended the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest while Secretary of the Bank and Financial Institutions Division under Finance Ministry Dr. M. Aslam Alam and National Board of Revenue Chairman M. Najibur Rahman also spoke on the occasion.
Atiur Rahman called upon the bankers for developing a â€˜human bankingâ€™ instead of traditional one to make contributions to the poor for achieving inclusive economic growth.
â€œWe want to make banking business for all providing priority to the poor,â€ he said.
All 56 scheduled banks, six non-banking financial institutions (NBFIs) and seven financial services related organizations are taking part in the fair to display their products and services.
Diverse services including loan and deposit schemes of the banks, Money Museum, Bangladesh Bank’s financial training, Security Printing Corporation (Bangladesh) Ltd (SPCBL); various publications and commemorative notes and coins will be showcased at the fair.
Debate competitions, roundtables, seminars and workshops will also be held throughout the fair, Paul said.
He added that these programs will be attended by the state ministers of finance, agriculture, planning, commerce, industries, women and children affairs and ICT, along with high-level government officials, teachers, economists and researchers.
