National Geographic’s website published a list of the Adventurers of the Year. Each year they nominate 10 people from different fields for the annual award. This year they have nominated Wasfia Nazreen who is the second Bangladeshi woman to conqueror Mount Everest.
She had been nominated as Activist of the year 2014 in recognition of her achievement in empowering Bangladesh’s women and girls though her campaign.
On June 9, 2012, Wasfia became the second Bangladeshi woman who conquered world’s highest peak Everest. Before her, Nishat Mazumder did it as a first Bangladeshi girl.
Wasfia is near to seven summits’ expedition. She has already climbed up six highest peaks of the six continents including Everest, Africa’s Mount Kilimanjaro and South America’s Aconcagua.
