Kathmandu, May 23, 2017: BRAC University of Bangladesh has been declared the open category winner of Zonta VidhuShe 2017, the first Women’s International Debating Championship recently organized by Debate Network Nepal (DNN). Similarly, Kathmandu University School of Law claimed the trophy for novice category.
Likewise, BRAC’s Rifayat Raisa and DNN’s Pradeep Ghimire were declared best speaker and adjudicator respectively in the four days long championship run on British Parliamentary style of debating.
Nishma Gautam from Nepal and Raad Sharar from Bangladesh had co-chief adjudicated the championship which saw the participation of 21 Nepali and 3 international teams.
The main objective of the event was to empower women and strengthen their quantitative and qualitative presence in debate community through debate training and competition focused on women related issues.
