Babiyachaur, 20 December 2105: Baranja VDC in Myagdi district was declared the first fully literate area in the district on Saturday. The announcement was made as 95.2 percent of VDCâ€™s population can now read and write.
Likewise, the officials announced that all school-age children have an access to the school in the VDC.
Resource Person of the District Education Office Krishna Lal Sapkota said that a total of 3,738 people of 15 to 60 years of age in the VDC are literate after the literary campaign. He added that no child of the school-age is out of school in the VDC.
During the programme organised on the premises of Mahendra Ratna Higher Secondary School, lawmaker Resham Bahadur Baniya pledged to launch the drive to make all people literate and bring all the children in the ambit of school in the district.
On the occasion, Local Development Officer Chiranjivi Poudel and District Education Officer Ram Prasad Adhikari said that preparations were on to declare the district fully literate within a year.
