Kathmandu, February 23, 2019: “Between The Lines (BTL): Peace and the Writing Experience” calls for application across the world. The event will happen in lowa City on July 13-27, 2019.Deadline for application is March 8, 2019.

Since 2008, Between the Lines (BTL) has hosted young writers at the University of Iowa for a cultural exchange program that focuses on the art and craft of creative writing. Participants, aged 15-18, come together in Iowa City for an intensive two-week session.

During this session, they live in campus dorms and spend their days in creative writing workshops and global literature seminars designed to broaden their literary horizons and deepen their empathy for an understanding of one another’s identities and stories.

All program activities will be in English and will include writing workshops, group and individual writing assignments, world literature seminars, cultural visits, and other local events.

Ideal candidates are talented young writers who show promise to become future literary figures in their respective countries.  Students must be between the ages of 15-18 as of July 13, 2019, proficient in English (reading, writing, and speaking), and able to participate effectively in intercultural exchange.  The nomination team will consider gender, geographic, ethnic and linguistic diversity.
