Bhaktapur, July 29: The Bhaktapur branch of Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS) has been facing acute shortage of blood for the past few months, belying the locally popular adage, “Go to Bhaktapur if you need blood.” The district is facing blood shortage after the number of blood donors decreased all of sudden, said Bhaktapur branch President of NRCS, Manoj Kumar Thapa.
The Bhaktapur NRCS organises a special programme every year and awards the blood donors, who donate bloods up to four times every year, to attract people towards blood donation. Although there is demand of 200 pints of blood daily, the Red Cross Blood Transfusion Centre has been providing only 75-100 pints of blood.
