Bikalpa Dhungana Awarded: Prime Minister’s National Talent Grant – 2075

Kathmandu, September 23, 2019: Bikalpa Dhungana, a Youth Inventor and Young Scientist of Nepal, originally from Manpang, Tanahun has been honored with the ‘Prime Minister National Talent Grant-2075’. Honorable President Bidya Devi Bhandari awarded Bikalpa amidst a special ceremony organized by the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers on September 22, 2019.

The government on December 3, 2017 decided to present the ‘Prime Minister National Talent Award’ and ‘Prime Minister National Talent Grant’ to talents making a significant contribution to the nation and establish a revolving fund of Rs. 22 million to that end.

Similarly, Senior Ophthalmologist Dr. Sanduk Ruit was awarded with Prime Minister National Talents Award- 2075, which had a reward of 5 lakhs rupees. Also, the President presented the Prime Minister National Talent Grant-2075 to Radi Miya, the resident of Laxminagar, Lamjung along with Bikalpa.

Dhungana has invented the Anyway Military Vehicle followed by helicopter technology, bomb disposal Robot, earthquake alarm device, manual loading and lifting Robot, grass cutter machine, paddy thrashing Robot, football player Robot, Police Robot, Sobi Anti-alcohol Vehicle Protecting System (SAAVPS ), smart traffic mask, traffic light, etc. in Nepal. The smart traffic mask and technology do not allow vehicles start system to function if it is operated by consuming alcohol. He received Rs 250,000 as a grant. The Hon. President expressed her hope that the grant would encourage Dhungana for more inventions in the days to come.

Stating that Nepal is a fertile land for talents, Hon. President Bhandari recalled that Nepal is a birthplace of Gautam Buddha, a precursor of the world peace, Bed Byas, the creators of the Vedas and Purans, Rhishi Yagyawalkya and Balmiki, the creator of the Ramayana. According to the President, there is a large population whose talents help Nepal get its name and fame in the international arena. She expressed the government’s policy of encouraging and recognizing national talents’ contribution to the areas of peace, good governance, innovation, research, exploration and development sector.

Honorable President shared- “The government has started the culture of honoring national talents which will encourage extraordinary talents every year and I want to thank the government for this initiation”.

Dhakal is also one of the finalist of Wai Wai Glocal Teen Hero 2018. Glocal Teen Hero is a platform that is exclusively for the teenagers that recognize their initiation, creativity and enthusiasm so as to empower them. It is a fully funded program exclusively for Nepali Teenagers and is an initiation of Glocal Khabar, an online news portal based on youth, education and entrepreneurship. It is an award night dedicated to the passionate and innovative teenagers who are also working to create a ripple effect in the society besides academics.
