Kathmandu, Oct 30,2014: More than a billion rupees is estimated to be spent in the preparation of the upcoming 18th SAARC summit taking place in Kathmandu from November 26-27 this year.
Various government agencies, predominantly Kathmandu municipality, Division of City Development and Buliding Construction and Kathmandu Valley Development Authority have intensified their works in full gusto in view of the summit to redefine the capital as ‘Green, Clean and Hi-tech’ place of the host country.
The municipality has allocated Rs 18 (crore) under many topics as building infrastructures, renovation, sanitation, plantation and decoration, among others.
Places as Khulamanch, Bhadrakali, Shahid Gate, Ghantaghar and Shantibatika, Sahid Park of Lainchaur are undergoing a facelift, informed the chief of Physical Infrastructure Division at the municipality Sanjayaraj Upadhyaya.
Some private organisations are also engaged in the renovation works as face-lifting, decoration, re-construction and restructuring, painting, sanitation of the city in preparation for the SAARC Summit.
