Shimla (India), August 30, 2017: Teenagers, in particular girls, are soft targets for the abductors. In Rampur town of Shimla, a teenage girl showed the courage of escaping from the clutches of her kidnappers by jumping out of their vehicle.
According to police, the victim is 13-year-old. She narrated the horrid incident to her teachers in school, where she fled to take refuge. The teachers took her to police, who lodged a kidnapping case against the unidentified driver after acting on her complaint.
The incident happened on Monday, when the girl boarded an auto to go to school. However, when she realized that the auto driver showed no inclination to stop despite her repeated requests, she jumped out of the vehicle and ran straight to school.
On Tuesday, police paraded around 25 auto drivers of the area before the girl, but she failed to identify the accused.
According to police officials, there were two other male passengers in the auto besides the girl. When she was requesting the auto driver to stop, they remained quiet. They said a kidnapping case has been registered against the unidentified auto driver and a hunt is on to nab him. The police are also scanning the CCTV footage to catch the accused.
Shimla SP Soumya Sambasivan said that after the registration of case, around 25 auto drivers were paraded before the minor but she could not identify the accused. She said a female police officer in plain clothes had tried to extract information from the girl but she could not provide more details.
