Breast Cancer Awareness Program by Nepal Cancer Hospital and Research Center

Kathmandu, November 7, 2018: To symbolize November as the ‘Breast Cancer Awareness month’, Nepal Cancer Hospital and Research Center organized an Orientation class for the members of Women Chamber of Commerce to spread awareness about breast and other female related cancers.

The program was held on November 5, 2018 where the causes, prevention and treatment of cancer were highlighted. The welcome speech was delivered by Dr. Sudip Shrestha from Nepal Cancer Hospital and Research Center where he emphasized the government’s effort for the health insurance against the cancer. Similarly, the organizer of Health Committee of Women Chamber of Commerce and Emcee of Nepal Cancer Hospital and Research Center, Mrs. Sworupa Shrestha mentioned how Women Chamber of Commerce is working together with Nepal Cancer Hospital and Research Center, Chamber of Commerce, Rotary and Lions club to spread awareness about cancer in the rural region of Nepal.

The chief guests of the program were the vice-president of the Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Deepak Malhotra and the chairperson of Women Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Anjan Shakya. The second session of the program was led by surgical oncologist of the hospital, Dr. Kapendra Shekhar Amatya who discussed about new technologies like Oncoplastic Breast Surgery that is now available in Nepal itself. The formal closing was done by the speech of Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Bijesh Raj Ghimire which was followed by a small meditation presented by the media, health and happiness motivational trainer, Mr. Simon Neupane.
