Start with a strong base
“The vase is the most important aspect of the floral design. I look at it like fashion design — when you’re dressing the body you start with the body then you put the clothing on it, in floral design you pick the vase then dress the vase. That’s why I created my own vase collection with Waterford crystal, the fleuorology collection.”
Keep it simple
“Choose simple, monochromatic flowers. I call it the ‘three rule’ you should never use more than three types of flowers and never use more than three types of monochromatic colors together. If you stick with the ‘three rule’ it’s the easiest way to go to keep things chic.”
How many vases should I have in my arsenal?
“The vases that I use every day are cylinder vases, like tubes, square cube glass vases and fish bowl or bubble bowl vases. They are the three most important types of vases that everyone should have in there vase collection at home. They are simple vases that make statements and you can group them together in ways that really make it pleasing to the eye.”
