Nuwakot, Oct 24: At least fourteen persons were killed when a passenger bus heading towards Dhunchne, the district headquarters of Rasuwa, from the capital met with an accident at Belkot of Nuwakot on Friday.
The District Police Office, Nuwakot, said the number of deceased could further rise as the number of injured in high. Most of the dead are women.Deputy Superintendent of Police Arun Poudel said identity of the deceased has become tougher as the injured and dead bodies were rushed to the hospital by the locals and passengers.
Condition of most of the injured is critical and they are being treated at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj, Jana Maitri Hospital, Green City Hospital, Neuro Hospital and Mega Hospital. Similarly, other injured are also receiving treatment in different hospitals in Nuwakot.
The ill-fated bus with the registration number plate Ba 2 Kha 2266 veered off the road near a cliff at Belkot-6 and fell around 150 metres down from the Pasanglhamu Highway. Congested and damaged roadway is believed to be the reason for the accident.
Two Israelis and Spanish national have also been killed in the accident. The bus belongs to the Pasang Lhamu Bus Entrepreneurs Association.
