Ratnanagar (Chitwan),19 Dec 2014: Nepal is gradually becoming self-reliant in electric wire production.

According to the Federation of Electrical Entrepreneur Nepal (FEEN), Nepal is becoming independent in this sector with the establishment of wire producing industries.

Prior to this, the United Wire and Cable Industry has recently been established in the district with the investment of Rs 100 million by 35 entrepreneurs, said the FEEN, district chapter chair Lekhnath Sapkota.

He further said though the country is becoming independent in wire production, the entrepreneurs are still compelled to import the raw materials for the purpose.

An annual transaction worth about Rs 40 billion is witnessed in the country in the sector. As many as 22 different industries are producing electric wires and cables in the country.

Such industries are run in Chitwan, Pokhara, Nawalaparasi, Biratnagar and Nepalgunj these days.

There are over 2,000 entrepreneurs involved in this sector and their conference is going to be held in Chitwan on Saturday.
