Kathmandu,4 Feb 2015: Telecommunication services providing company Nepal Telecom (NT) has earned a net profit of Rs 11.55 billion in last fiscal year (2070/71 BS).  The number of its customers has soared up by 26 folds in the past one decade with the expansion of the service.

The then Nepal Telecommunication Corporation was transformed into the Nepal Doorsanchar Company Limited from Baisakh 1, 2061 BS (April 13, 2004) with 400,000 customers. It is company registered under the Company Act-1997 and widely known as Nepal Telecom. Till this date, around 15 million people are using this various services.

Its annual transactions in the last fiscal were equivalent to Rs 39.69 billion and it paid revenue of Rs 20 billion to the government under different headings. Over 95 per cent population in the country have now an access to telephone service and its (NT’s)  presence in the Nepali communications market makes up over 45 per cent, according to company co-spokesperson Dilliram Adhikari.

All 75 districts in the country are connected with the NT telephone services. The number of users of internet data services in country’s telecom market is over 5 million and NT’s sharing on it is around 55 per cent.  The company has expanded its 3G data service to 68 districts.  Besides, it is in the process of expanding the NGN telephone and internet services to urban, suburban and pocket areas as well. It had involved the private sector in the distribution of SIM and RUIM Cards since last year for the convenience of customers.

The company has launched the apps services to inform customers about its services, tariff rate, to manage their complaints, and address them and its new schemes.

The company doing its business with the motto of Nepal Telecom Nation’s Communications is observing its 11th anniversary tomorrow (Magh 22). It has planned to give discount offers in its services on the same occasion.
