Kathmandu, 25th January,2015 : The meeting today of the Constituent Assembly (CA) formed a 49-member questionnaire formation committee to prepare the questions on the disputed issues of the new constitution.
CA Chair Subas Chandra Nembang himself proposed the Committee as well as the name of the lawmakers to be represented in the committee, amidst the sloganeering by the opposition alliance led by the UCPN (Maoist) party.
It may be noted that the CA Chairman call to the Chief Whip of Nepali Congress Chinjkaji Shrestha had not been successful, as the agitating opposition party CA members had been stopping him from doing so since January 19.
The proposal by CA Chairman Nembang to form the Committee was approved by a majority of the CA through a voice vote.
The committee will hold its first meeting after five days and has been asked to submit its report within five days after it begins it work.
While reading out the Terms of Reference of the Committee, the CA Chairman also appealed to the opposition parties to give the names of their representatives in the Committee. The Committee will have a total of 73 members, Nembang said.
CA Chairman Nembang also read out names of the 49 lawmakers included in the Committee.
The CA meeting has been prorogued until further notice.
