Kathmandu, September 22, 2017: Nepal Entrepreneurs’ HUB (NEHUB) in joint collaboration with Kathmandu University (KU) is all set to host Nepal’s first University-wide Startup Weekend this November 10-12, 2017 at KUSOM premises, Balkumari, Lalitpur.
Startup Weekend is a global grassroots movement of active and empowered entrepreneurs who are learning the basics of founding startups and launching successful ventures. Similar events are being held worldwide on the same date, i.e. Nov 10-12, 2017.
This edition of competition is open to Bachelor and Masters level students in Nepal. A total of 100 participants will be selected for the competition, all of whom will get an opportunity to pitch their startup idea and receive feedback from their peers. “Among them, ten best ideas will be selected, and ten teams comprising ten team-members each will be formed. They will go through rigorous learning and brainstorming process, and work to turn the idea into a viable business model,” informed Natasha Baidya, an organizing committee member for the event.
Top three ideas from the event will be rewarded with cash prizes. The winning team will bag cash worth Rs. 50,000 whereas the first and second runner-ups will be receive cash worth Rs. 35,000 and Rs. 25,000 respectively.
Moreover, the winning team from the Kathmandu edition of Startup Weekend will get an opportunity to participate in regional and global editions of the competition.
