Myagdi, Jan 28,2015: The locals of Darbang in Myagdi have called for reinstatement of the Rastriya Banijya Bank branch office that was displaced citing insecurity during the conflict.
The RBB branch in Darbang bazaar, the second business hub in the district was founded in 2058 B.S. with the objective of addressing the financial needs of the residents of around a dozen of VDCs in west Myagdi.
The first branch office in Beni too had been shutdown. It was however opened after strong pressure from the local administration and businesspersons.
The absence of RBB branch is causing many difficulties to the business sector as well as the farmers here, says Bir Bahadur Karki, the Chief of the Myagdi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Darbang Unit.
Many locals have faith on the government-owned and run banks due to safety of their investment and quality service, adds Karki. Another state-run Bank, the Agriculture Development Bank too had pulled out its branch office from here during the conflictThere are however more than a dozen private banks and financial institutions operating in Darbang. Meanwhile, manager of the RBB Beni branch, Rukmangat Mubwari said the RBB has adopted a policy of expanding and reinstating its branches in the current fiscal year. “Efforts are also underway to reestablish the Darbang branch of RBB”, he said.
