Babiyachaur, Oct 31: Authorities concerned in the Dhaulagiri zone have urged the government to take steps to open Nepal-China Korolla point of Lomanthang, Mustang.

At a discussion programme organised by the Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Myagdi Chamber of Commerce here Saturday, the participants said Korola point is the nearest and appropriate route for trade with the northern neighbour, insisting on its operation soon with the development of physical infrastructure.

Political leaders, business community and government officials based in Myagdi, Mustang, Baglung and Parbat districts put forth their views in the programme.

Life across the country has been crippled due to the unofficial blockade imposed by India on Nepal and now time has come to reopen the Korolla point that has been closed since the past one decade to ease the situation, FNCCI central member Pramod Shrestha said.
The Korolla point lies in the distance of 176 kilometers from the Myagdi district headquarters Beni.

Chief District Officers of Baglung, Myagdi, Parbat and Mustang stressed the need of regularly opening the point, and its upgrading and developing it into a dry port for Nepal-China trade.
