CAN Infotech, the mega exhibition of Information, Communication and Entertainment, has set its own benchmark. A large number of visitors takes this exhibition to explore various gadgets and new technological development. Coming to the 24th edition of the expo, it has been center of attraction for the people of various backgrounds and ages. However, students from various levels: schools to colleges comprise the majority of the visitors.

Diwas Dahal is the student of Electronics and Communication at Thapathali Campus. Last Friday, his college called the classes off so that the students could visit CAN Infotech 2018 at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu. Diwas and his classmate Ashim Sapkota were curiously talking with the representatives of the company demonstrating automatic home control system.

Diwas shared, “I am curious about new technologies based on electronics. I was intrigued to see a system which could allow one to control home lightening, television, water pumps etc from anywhere. The technology keeps your home just a click away from you.”

Similarly, Kiran Khadka, a teacher at Oliver English School, was leading the group of his students from Grade 8 and 9. His students were curious to see various new innovations. According to Khadka, the students learn and see the photographs of many hardware components in their textbooks but do not get to see all of them in real. However, the exhibition has helped them explore various gadgets and computer parts and witness the better version of each. “Our students are well-known with the projectors and speakers. But at one of the stall, they saw a mobile projector and speaker which were no bigger than a milk cup. Technology is getting better day by day and students should be familiar with them. Smartboards and the newly developed apps even raised my own curiosity, opined Khadka.CAN Infotech 2 - Glocal Khabar

For Rajan Tamang, a seventh-grade student at Mahakal Secondary School and Sishir KC, ninth grade student at Oliver English School, CAN Infotech helped them to know about different mobile phones and laptops. Dressed in the well-ironed uniform, the school students were standing in a line to visit various stalls. The gaming laptops and computers, Artificial Intelligence Set and mobile phones were drawing the attention of them. Some were busy collecting every possible brochure while the others were posing with the mascots put by the various companies. Additionally, Nepal Astronomical Society (NASO) has set up Astrofest at CAN Infotech. Students could use the telescope at the stall to observe the moon.

The college level students were much interested to know about the various schemes presented by the Internet Service Providers. They were much evaluating and comparing the products and their cost at various stalls. Prabesh Paudel, an IT student wasn’t much interested in the devices and gadgets on the exhibition. But he was impressed with the information he could grab from the event.

“You will find everything kept here if you take a stroll around shops in Newroad. But I liked the way of conveying information to the curious visitors.”- Prabesh Paudel.

Stalls of the startups like Foodmario, Sajilo Marmat Sewa, Sroth Code Games etc was visited by collegians. They could interact with the founders and co-workers at these startups about different topics of entrepreneurship.

A Three-Wheeled vehicle made by the students from Pulchowk Campus is also kept for the demonstration.

The six-day long expo will be concluding today.
