Kathmandu, September 14 2015-  A candle lighting ceremony was held outside the Tribhuvan International Airport this evening on the eve of the National Children’s Day, commemorating those children killed in different movements in the country.

On the occasion, Minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare, Neelam KC, said the Ministry was very serious about the proper management of street children and thus developing the street children-free city. She also laid a foundation stone of a new building of the Central Child Welfare Board.

Ministry’s Secretaries Dhan Bahadur Tamang and Board Chairman Dilliram Giri emphasized on the need of collective efforts to ensure the child rights.
Nepal celebrates the Bhadra 29 in the Nepali calendar every year as the National Children’s Day commemorating the day when it ratified the Convention on the Rights of the Child on September 14, 1990 or Bhadra 29, 2047 BS.
