Kathmandu, December 9, 2015:Â “One Women Can Make a Difference Together We Can Rock The World”
The team at “On Call Pharmacy And Polyclinicâ€Â focusing the whole of Poush month for women health care. In this free camp for women we are mainly trying to focus on two aspects of female health. One utmost being screening of cervical cancer and another beauty which includes free consultation by dermatologist for skin, hair and nail care.
Cervical Health Awareness Month is a chance to raise awareness about how women can protect themselves from HPV (human papillomavirus) and cervical cancer. HPV is a very common infection that spreads through sexual activity. It’s also a major cause of cervical cancer.
Cervical cancer is one of the most prevalent cancers affecting women globally. The worldwide incidence of cervical cancer is approximately 510,000 new cases annually, with approximately 288,000 deaths.1 More than 85% of these deaths are reported in low and middle income countries.2 The World Health Organization estimates that a crude incidence rate of cervical cancer in Nepal is 24.2 per 100,000 women per year, with 3,504 new cases diagnosed every year and 1,872 deaths.
How can Cervical Health Awareness Month make a difference?
We can use this opportunity to spread the word about important steps women can take to stay healthy.
Here are just a few ideas:
- Encourage women to get their well-woman visit this year.
- Talk to parents about how important it is for their pre-teens to get the HPV vaccine. Both boys and girls need the vaccine.
Prevent delay in the diagnosis of cancer
